A passion for gardening and natural outdoor environments has steered me from a 20 year career in Design to full-time Gardening and Garden design, supplementing my BA Three Dimensional Design with the Royal Horticultural Society level 2 certificate in Horticulture. I believe the importance of access to plant based environments is only just starting to be fully understood. Now is the time for all of us to harness our outdoor spaces and provide beautiful, sustainable, green environments for ourselves and habitat for all other creatures we share our natural environment with.
The very best gardens work in harmony with the natural world with gentle interventions to enhance the beauty and wonder of the planting. Creating a balanced micro ecosystem in your garden space, along with selecting the very best plant choices for your conditions, ensures healthy, resilient plants that perform well and bring you joy. I believe that no plant can perform optimally with out the very best soil conditions and I so development of soil structure is a key part of my gardening practice.
Through many years of experience, I have learnt that, no garden is ever ‘finished’. A plant is a constantly changing and developing organism. No garden stands still and therefor a garden can only continue to delight with careful and considered management. Knowledge and understanding of plants is critical to plant selection and ongoing plant care whilst allowing the garden to evolve.
Promoting biodiversity should be a core focus of every garden and we all need to take responsibility for ensuring our gardens are sensitively designed and planted with habitat creation throughout.
